Bergamot Oil, not only gives off a luxuriously sweet aroma, but has benefits for the skin as well. It is a natural cicatrizant which means that it helps heal scars and other marks on the skin, including fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps with the distribution of pigments and melanin within the skin, resulting in a more even skin tone throughout. It leaves your skin smelling wonderful, due to its natural aroma and antibacterial properties it actually discourages the growth of the germs that cause body odour! It is thought o stimulate the activity of dopamine and serotonin, which are both hormones linked to our mental health, helping to bring on feelings of relaxation and sedation. You know that feeling after a few mince pies (and maybe a few more mince pies!), just as the film begins and you start to nod off? That feeling of tranquility just before that happens, that is what we’ve recreated in this bath bomb.
Cinnamon is an ingredient that brings us all back to Christmas, so we had to include it. Cinnamon Essential Oil is lovely and warming on the body and therefore is great for easing any aches or pains. The aroma not only provides happy memories of family times or delicious food but is also thought to enhance your cognitive functioning, which basically means it helps to get rid of brain fog!
Two other Essential Oils that we had to include are Elemi and Frankincense. They both have a really rejuvenating effect on the skin and leave your skin feeling energised and supple.
Other ingredients include: Bicarbonate of Soda, and Citric Acid, for that super satisfying fizz when it hits the water; Corn Starch, to slow down the bath bomb’s reaction so that the indulgent experience lasts longer; Apricot Kernel Oil, due to its wonderful moisturising properties; Witch Hazel, a natural liquid binder that we use in all of our bath bombs; Grapefruit Seed Extract, as its full of antioxidants; and Dried Orange Zest, because… it’s Christmas!
