Bergamot Oil, not only gives off a luxuriously sweet aroma, but has benefits for the skin as well. It is a natural cicatrizant which means that it can help to heal scars and other marks on the skin, including fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps with the distribution of pigments and melanin within the skin, resulting in a more even skin tone throughout. It is thought to stimulate the activity of dopamine and serotonin, which are both hormones linked to our mental health, and so can help in bringing on feelings of relaxation.
Cedarwood Essential Oil has a strong warm scent and blends superbly with the scents from the Bergamot. It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore beneficial for calming skin troubles, and also for keeping unwanted bacteria away from the skin. We have also used Cinnamon Essential Oil, for its comforting and nostalgic aroma that reminds us all of Christmas. Two other Essential Oils that we just had to include are Elemi and Frankincense, as they both have a really rejuvenating effect on the skin and leave it feeling energised.
As in all our soaps, we have used Canola Oil, which helps to create a luxuriously bubbly lather. It is rich in Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps to protect your skin from any free radicals (the sadly naturally occurring molecules in our bodies that try to damage our skin cells), to help strengthen your skin. It also contains Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids that are super useful in helping to combate signs of premature ageing and also work wonders for soothing dry skin.
Other ingredients include: Coconut Oil, to keep your skin hydrated and glowing; Shea Butter, to help in locking in that moisture; Sodium Hydroxide, an essential ingredient in soap-making; Cocoa Butter, to add firmness and further moisture to the bar; Avocado Oil, rich in moisturising vitamins; Hemp Oil, great for the skin and helps to make a luxurious lather; and Grapefruit Seed Extract, a rich antioxidant.
